About this page
This page follows reporting on the incident at the Irkutsk anti-plague institute in Siberia, where a laboratory worker died in late September 2026 and contacts were placed under observation. The cause of death has been reported differently by different sources, and this page shows those differences rather than picking one.
How it works
- About every 20 minutes a job reads the public feeds of a fixed list of health authorities and news outlets (see Sources).
- An AI model reads each new item, decides whether it is about this incident, and notes the facts it reports and who stated them.
- When new reporting arrives, and at least every six hours, the model rewrites the summary from the stored items. Every figure and timeline entry links to the reporting it came from; citations to anything not in the store are removed automatically.
- Figures are labelled Official when a health authority or government stated them, Press reports when only independent reporting supports them, and Unverified when they rest on anonymous sources.
Limits
- This is not a health authority and not medical advice. Plague is treatable with antibiotics when caught early. If you have symptoms or were exposed, contact a doctor or your local health service.
- AI summaries can be wrong. Open the linked articles before relying on any figure.
- Russian official information may be incomplete, and some reporting relies on unnamed sources.
